Houthis Claim Responsibility for Second Attack on Saudi Oil Facility in Jazan
Yemen's Iran-backed Houthis have claimed responsibility for an attack on Saudi Aramco's refinery in Jazan, the second such strike within a month. The group's military spokesman Yahya Saree said they had 'succeeded in targeting the Aramco refinery in Jazan with a drone, and the strike was precise.'
The attack was reportedly launched in response to Saudi incursions into territory in northwest Yemen.
No injuries were reported in the incident, according to Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Energy. The fire at the facility has been extinguished by Aramco's industrial security firefighting teams.
This is not an isolated incident - just last month, the Houthis said they had carried out missile and drone operations against Aramco-affiliated facilities in Jazan and Yanbu on July 26. They targeted sensitive Aramco facilities with ballistic missiles and drones, as well as facilities in Yanbu with ballistic and cruise missiles.
The attack has raised concerns about the security of Saudi Arabia's oil infrastructure and the potential for further retaliation from the Houthis.
