Houthis Claim Saudi-Backed Forces Launch Airstrikes in Yemen After Oil Facility Attacks

The Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed that Saudi-backed forces launched dozens of airstrikes overnight across four provinces, Taiz, Hodeida, Jawf, and Marib. The strikes come after Houthi attacks on several oil facilities and utilities in Saudi Arabia wounded 73 people.

Saudi authorities did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the alleged airstrikes. The U.S. Embassy in Yemen stated that the country's 'legitimate' government has the right to defend its people and end the Houthis' ability to inflict terror.

The United Nations and Turkey condemned the Houthi attacks, with U.N. Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg saying they threaten to widen the conflict and put civilians at grave risk.
