Houthis Claim Targeted Strike at Saudi Najran Airport
The Iran-aligned Houthis have claimed to have conducted a targeted strike at Saudi Arabia's Najran airport, according to a statement on Telegram. The strike is said to be in response to Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace over the Saada and Hajjah governorates.
There has been no immediate confirmation from Saudi Arabia regarding the alleged attack. The Houthis have imposed a naval blockade on Saudi Arabia in the Red Sea since last month, citing a Saudi siege on Yemen that Riyadh has denied.
The Houthi strike at Najran airport comes as six Saudi tankers changed course and headed toward southern Africa due to threats from the terror group to target Saudi shipping. The empty tankers can each carry up to two million barrels of crude oil, potentially adding at least 25 days of sailing time to their journeys.
