Houthis Claim Third Attack on Jazan Oil Refinery in Two Weeks
The Houthi movement in Yemen has claimed its third attack on Saudi Aramco's Jazan oil refinery in just two weeks. According to a Houthi military source, multiple drones targeted the refinery, causing a 'precise' strike in response to alleged Saudi violations of Yemeni airspace.
The refinery, which has been offline since late July due to previous attacks, represents 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) of capacity. Saudi Aramco's overall net refining capacity stood at approximately 4.2 million bpd as of end-2025.
This latest claim marks a continuation of the Houthi's efforts to disrupt Saudi energy infrastructure and shipping lanes in the Red Sea. The attacks have resulted in prolonged dark activity events, with a significant portion of tanker traffic in the region operating without Automatic Identification System (AIS) transponders switched on.
