Houthis Disrupt Global Oil Supplies with Saudi Attacks
A series of attacks by Yemen's Houthi militants on Saudi oil installations has disrupted global supplies, pushing Brent crude prices above $100 a barrel for the first time since May. The Houthis fired ballistic missiles at Saudi state oil giant Aramco in Jizan and Yanbu, with two Asia-based trading sources confirming potential damage to fuel and oil storage sites.
The strikes come as the Houthi-led government has declared a naval blockade of Saudi Arabia, threatening to extend disruption to global oil supplies from the Iran war. The Houthis have stated that all Saudi oil facilities will be targets if Riyadh escalates its involvement in the conflict.
The Saudi-led coalition said it would continue taking necessary measures to protect its ships and Saudi interests, while vowing 'uncompromising' action against Houthi hostile actions. US President Donald Trump has also vowed 'major military punishment' for Tehran and the Houthis.
