Houthis' Energy Strike Ignites Regional Tensions Amid Iran-Saudi Conflict
The ongoing conflict between Iran and Saudi Arabia has taken a potentially explosive turn, as Yemen's Houthi rebels launched a series of attacks on energy sites and cities in Saudi Arabia. The strikes, which occurred on Tuesday, injured over 70 individuals and highlighted the risk of the conflict escalating into a broader regional confrontation.
The attacks came after Iranian alerts about vulnerabilities at Gulf energy installations, including US oil and gas interests. As a result, oil prices surged to six-week highs.
The Houthi strikes targeted four southern Saudi Arabian cities, with nearly 73 people sustaining injuries, according to a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition. Colonel Turki al-Malki stated that 'the coalition will implement all necessary actions to deter this terrorist faction.'
The incident has raised concerns about the potential for further violence and instability in the region.
