Houthis Escalate Violence with Attacks on Yemen Port and Saudi Oil Facilities

A Houthi attack on the port city of Mokha in Yemen has killed eight people, including two security personnel, according to a military official from Yemen's internationally recognised government. The strike is part of a recent escalation in violence between the Houthis and the Saudi-backed authorities, which had been holding a years-long truce.

The Houthis have also declared a maritime blockade on Saudi ports and attacked ships in the Red Sea, claiming strikes on oil infrastructure. In a separate attack, Houthi media reported that the group used a drone to target a Saudi Aramco site in Najran, southwest Saudi Arabia, stating that the operation had achieved its objective.

The Yemeni official said that five missiles were fired at commercial ships unloading at the port of Mokha, with two ships on fire as a result. The Houthi threat to shipping and Saudi oil facilities comes amid tensions in the region, particularly with Iran's blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
