Houthis Launch Drone Strikes on Saudi Targets Amid Escalating Tensions

The Houthi group in Yemen claimed responsibility for drone attacks on an airport and an oil facility in Saudi Arabia's southern region of Najran. The strikes, which were carried out on Thursday, targeted a 'sensitive target' at Najran airport and a facility belonging to Aramco.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group launched two drone strikes in response to what they described as Saudi drone incursions into the airspace over Yemen's northern province of Saada. The Houthi claims come amid escalating tensions between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia, with both sides engaging in intense fighting across several fronts in the war-torn country.

The Houthi group has been waging a campaign against Saudi targets, including oil facilities and airports, since they announced a maritime ban on Saudi shipping last month. The ban was implemented in response to what the Houthis described as a Saudi blockade of Houthi-held areas.
