Houthis Set Oil Facilities Ablaze, Wounding Dozens in Escalating Conflict

The Houthi rebels in Yemen have launched a wave of attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities, causing fires and injuring at least 73 people. The attacks occurred early Tuesday morning in the cities of Abha's Jazan, Najran, and Khamis Mushait.

Maj. Gen. Turki al-Malki, a spokesperson for the Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen, said that those wounded included women and children. The fires were reported at several oil facilities and utilities in the kingdom's southern region, temporarily halting operations.

The attacks mark a significant escalation in the conflict between the Houthi rebels and the Saudi-backed government forces in Yemen. The violence has raised concerns about global economic stability and the potential disruption of shipping through the Bab al-Mandeb strait.
