Houthis Strike Again: Ballistic Missiles and Drones Target Saudi Oil Interests
The Houthis have claimed responsibility for another attack on Saudi oil interests, targeting an oil tanker in the northern Red Sea. According to Yahya Saree, a Houthi military spokesman, the vessel Wafa was struck with several ballistic missiles off the coast of Yanbu.
Saree stated that this was the eighth tanker targeted since the Houthis announced their maritime blockade on Saudi Arabia on July 22nd. The group claims to have prevented or forced 29 Saudi ships to turn back in the Red Sea, and has vowed to continue escalating attacks as part of their 'blockade-for-blockade' strategy.
The Houthis also claimed responsibility for a drone strike on Najran Airport in southern Saudi Arabia on August 4th. Saree stated that this attack was in response to alleged repeated Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace, warning that further violations would prompt retaliation.
