Houthis Strike Aramco Facilities in Red Sea Escalation
The Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have escalated their conflict with Saudi Arabia by firing missiles and drones at facilities belonging to Aramco, the world's largest oil company. The attack targeted cities on the Red Sea coast, including Yanbu and Jizan, which are crucial for international shipping routes.
According to Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, the Houthis' military spokesperson, the strike was in response to Saudi airstrikes on the strategic city of Hodeida. The conflict has intensified as the US and Iran vie for control of the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway for global oil trade.
The attack on Aramco facilities has raised concerns about the impact on international energy markets. Aramco is responsible for producing over 10 million barrels of crude oil per day, making it one of the largest oil producers in the world.
