Houthis Strike Saudi Energy Facilities, Injuring 73 People
The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has reported that 73 people were injured in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. The attacks, which occurred on Tuesday, targeted energy facilities in the southern cities of Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran.
Fires broke out at the sites, and several people were injured as firefighting teams rushed to contain the blazes and assess the damage. The Saudi energy ministry said that operations at some energy facilities had been halted following the attacks.
The Houthis have been launching attacks towards Saudi Arabia since they declared a naval blockade against Riyadh in July. The group's military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, warned that Houthi strikes would not go unanswered and that the group would announce a broad operation deep into Saudi territory.
The attacks on Tuesday sent oil prices soaring, with Brent crude futures rising $1 to $98/BBL and U.S. crude futures rising over $2 to $93.65/BBL.
