Houthis Strike Saudi Oil Facilities as US Suspends Strikes
The Houthi rebels in Yemen, backed by Iran, launched attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil facilities on the Red Sea coast. The US did not carry out airstrikes on Iran for the first time in two weeks, according to Reuters.
A senior US official told Reuters that President Donald Trump has always preferred diplomacy over military action but has shown Iran what will happen if they do not negotiate seriously.
The Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree announced successful strikes on facilities of the state oil company Saudi Aramco in Jizan and Yanbu. In Yanbu, two ballistic missiles aimed at oil facilities were intercepted by the US Patriot system, operated by Greek military personnel as part of cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
