Houthis Strike Saudi Oil Tanker in Red Sea

The Houthi movement in Yemen has claimed responsibility for attacking a Saudi oil tanker, Wafaa, in the Red Sea. According to their statement, they struck the vessel near the port of Yanbu using ballistic missiles, achieving a 'precise hit.'

This incident follows the Houthis' declaration on Tuesday that they had attacked a sensitive target inside Najran airport in southern Saudi Arabia.

The Yemeni government has accused the Houthis of being behind an attack on an Indian vessel in the Red Sea using an explosive-laden boat. The Indian Ministry of External Affairs confirmed that the ship was hit and capsized off Yemen's coast, but all 14 crew members survived after being rescued by Yemeni coast guards.

This marks a continuation of the Houthis' escalated campaign against commercial shipping in the Red Sea since November 2023, which has disrupted one of the world's most critical trade and energy routes.
