Houthis Target Saudi Aramco Refinery with Drone Strike
The Houthi group has claimed responsibility for targeting a Saudi Aramco refinery in Jazan, southwestern Saudi Arabia, using a drone attack. The strike was reportedly aimed at facilities belonging to the oil giant and came in response to alleged violations of Yemen's airspace by Saudi drones.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree announced on social media platform X that their forces had successfully targeted the refinery with an accurate strike, but details about damage or casualties were not provided. In contrast, the Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed that a fire broke out at one of the Aramco facilities in Jazan earlier Sunday morning and was subsequently extinguished without reported injuries.
The incident has heightened security tensions amidst ongoing Houthi attacks on targets inside Saudi Arabia. These attacks have raised concerns about potential repercussions for oil facilities, shipping, and energy supplies in the region.
