Houthis Target Saudi Energy Facilities Amid Escalating Regional Tensions
Saudi Arabia's energy facilities were targeted by the Iran-backed Houthi group in a series of attacks on southern Saudi targets, including energy sites and military locations. The Saudi Energy Ministry confirmed that several energy installations were hit, causing fires and temporarily halting operations.
The attacks occurred in areas such as Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan, and Najran, with the Saudi-led coalition reporting 73 injuries. Houthi forces claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating they used drones and ballistic missiles against Saudi targets.
Saudi authorities condemned the attacks as a 'dangerous escalation' and vowed to take necessary measures to defend their sovereignty. The developments have heightened geopolitical risks in the Middle East, with oil prices approaching $100 per barrel amid concerns over supply disruptions.
