Houthis Target Saudi Oil Refinery with Drones in Escalating Conflict
Houthi rebels in Yemen targeted an oil refinery on Saudi Arabia's southern Red Sea coast on August 18, 2026. According to Houthi news agency Saba, citing a military source, the group used several drones to attack the Aramco refinery in Jazan.
The move comes after the Houthis announced a maritime blockade of Saudi Arabia last month, following an Iranian plane landing in Yemen's capital Sanaa. The Houthis have been escalating their attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure and airports in recent months.
The conflict between the Houthi rebels and the Saudi-backed government of Yemen has been ongoing for over a decade, with the war causing widespread devastation and displacement in the region.
