Houthis Target Saudi Oil Supply Sites Amid Tensions Over Strait of Hormuz
The Iran-aligned Houthis in Yemen have claimed responsibility for targeting sensitive crude oil supply and transport sites in eastern Saudi Arabia, linking to the critical Red Sea export hub of Yanbu.
This move is reportedly a response to what the Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, described as 'Saudi drone incursions into Yemeni airspace.'
The east-west pipeline in Saudi Arabia has been re-routed through Yanbu due to Iranian attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, which began after the US and Israel launched a war on Iran in February.
