HPCL Seeks Diversified LNG Supplies Amid Middle East Disruptions
Hindustan Petroleum Corp (HPCL), India's state-run oil and gas company, is seeking to diversify its liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply base beyond the Middle East. The company currently sources 47% of its LNG from the region, but ongoing conflicts have disrupted gas supplies.
HPCL Executive Director Anuj Mehrotra told Moneycontrol that the company will evaluate sourcing opportunities from North America, Africa, and Australia to reduce regional concentration risk.
The company plans to invest Rs 5,000 crore across the natural gas value chain over the next three to five years. Around 70-80% of this investment will go towards city gas distribution (CGD) expansion, including strengthening steel and Medium-Density Polyethylene (MDPE) networks.
