Hugh Brinson Pipeline Enters Service Ahead of Schedule
Energy Transfer's Hugh Brinson Pipeline has started transporting natural gas within Texas state lines, according to a tariff filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. The pipeline began intrastate flows on June 13, 2026, ahead of its full operational date in March 2027.
The entire system is not yet complete, but it will eventually include approximately 400 miles of 42-inch pipeline running from West Texas to south of the Dallas, Fort Worth Metroplex. The project also includes a 42-mile, 36-inch lateral connecting the mainline to processing facilities in Martin and Midland counties, as well as nine interconnects.
Seven shippers have committed to using the pipeline, with contracts subscribing up to 1.48 million MMBtu/d of transportation capacity during the first year of full operations. However, at least one contract does not begin until April 2029, meaning the full contracted capacity may not be available immediately.
