The Iran-backed Huthi group in Yemen has claimed to have targeted eight Saudi oil tankers since late July, when they declared a maritime blockade on Saudi shipping. The group's claims were reported by their news agency Saba, but cannot be independently verified by CNN.

The Huthis also claimed to have sunk two military landing ships near Mokha, which they said were transporting Saudi weapons. Additionally, they reportedly sank over 10 warships belonging to Saudi forces without providing evidence.

Recent clashes have intensified in the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, a key maritime chokepoint at the southern end of the Red Sea. The Huthi group declared the blockade on ships from Saudi Arabia, the main backer of Yemeni government forces.
