IGL Raises CNG Prices by ₹3.89 Per Kg Amid Elevated LNG Costs
Indraprastha Gas Ltd (IGL), North India's largest city-gas distributor, has announced a price hike for compressed natural gas (CNG) across its retail stations. The increase of ₹3.89 per kg will take effect at 6 a.m. on August 29, 2026. This is the fifth time IGL has raised CNG prices since the conflict in West Asia escalated.
The price hike comes as international LNG prices have nearly doubled compared to pre-crisis levels due to cargo movement disruptions across the Strait of Hormuz and increased demand for natural gas storage in Europe ahead of winter. As a result, IGL has had to make more expensive spot purchases to meet its requirements.
The new CNG price in Delhi will be ₹86.98 per kilogram. This increase is part of a series of cumulative hikes since May 15, which have added up to ₹6 per kg across four tranches.
