India Boosts Domestic LPG Output Amid Escalating Middle East Tensions
India has set new daily production targets for cooking gas as part of efforts to safeguard domestic LPG supplies amid ongoing Middle East tensions. The government has fixed a maximum daily production target of 63,810 metric tonnes for LPG producers, including state-run and private-sector companies.
The move comes in response to uncertainty in international energy markets, with tensions in the Middle East affecting oil prices and raising concerns over the movement of energy supplies through key shipping routes.
India's government has been closely monitoring developments in the region because disruptions to crude oil and gas flows can affect domestic fuel availability and costs. The higher production target is aimed at encouraging oil companies to maximise domestic output and strengthen the availability of cooking gas for consumers.
