India-China Energy Needs Set to Shape Global Oil Demand
India and China's massive energy consumption will shape global oil demand in the future, according to Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri.
Puri met with a delegation from China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) in New Delhi, highlighting shared interests in energy market stability between India and China.
The meeting comes at a time of international disruptions, including regional conflicts and logistics hurdles that continue to affect commodity flows. Puri noted that domestic economic expansion remains on track despite these challenges.
The minister emphasized initiatives aimed at reducing reliance on imports, such as the production of specialized de-aromatised solvents by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), which will begin in March 2026. This move is expected to reduce industries' reliance on imports and improve product availability.
