India Doubles Sales Target for Five Kg LPG Cylinders Amid Normal Oil and Gas Supplies
The Indian government has taken steps to boost the sale of five kg LPG cylinders. According to Joint Secretary for the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Sujata Sharma, a new order has been issued to double their sales.
In February, around 77,000 five kg cylinders were sold daily, but this number has increased to over one lakh in recent days. The total commercial LPG allocation has also been increased to about 70% of pre-crisis levels.
The government has also assured the public that there are no dry-outs at any LPG distributorships and all petrol pumps are operating normally with adequate availability of petrol and diesel. Online LPG bookings have increased to about 96%, and since March 23, around 780,000 five-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders have been sold.
