India Frees Wheat Exports as Trade Policy Shifts
The Indian government has lifted its prohibition on exports of wheat and related products. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) revised the export policy for both categories from 'prohibited' to 'free' with immediate effect.
According to two separate notifications issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's Department of Commerce, the export policy for durum wheat (other) under HS code 10011900 and wheat under HS code 10019910 has been revised to 'free'.
In a parallel notification, the export policy for wheat or meslin flour (atta), maida, samolina (rava/sirgi), wholemeal atta and resultant atta, all classified under HS code 11010000, has also been shifted from 'prohibited' to 'free'.
