India Gold Prices Soar by ₹20,000 in Just Nine Months
The prices of gold and silver have increased in India, according to the latest data from the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA). The price of 10 grams of 24-carat gold has risen by ₹606 to reach ₹1.53 lakh. Meanwhile, the price of one kilogram of silver has increased by ₹2,406 today to reach ₹2.34 lakh.
The increase in prices is attributed to various factors such as transportation and security costs, purchase volume, local jewelry associations, and old stock and purchase price. The IBJA notes that gold has become costlier by ₹20,000 this year, with the price of 10 grams of gold increasing from ₹1.33 lakh on December 31, 2025 to ₹1.53 lakh currently.
Consumers are advised to be cautious when buying gold and silver, particularly in cities where prices may vary due to local demand and supply factors. To ensure authenticity and quality, buyers should opt for certified gold with a Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) hallmark, which is alphanumeric and indicates the purity of the gold.
