India Hikes Commercial LPG Cylinder Price Amid West Asia Conflict Fears

The Indian government has increased the price of commercial LPG cylinders by ₹9.50 across the country, amid concerns over disruptions to cooking gas supplies linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

The revised prices for the 19-kg cylinders are now ₹2,784 in Thiruvananthapuram and vary slightly in other cities such as Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, and Kasaragod.

This price hike comes after the Centre set maximum LPG production targets for individual public and private sector refineries and upstream companies to strengthen domestic supplies and create a buffer against supply disruptions.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Ministry had issued an order on August 13, assigning production capacity of 63,810 tonnes of LPG per day to 21 refineries and upstream companies, which is more than twice India's daily LPG consumption.
