India Lifts Export Curbs on Wheat Flour Products
The Indian government has lifted restrictions on the export of wheat flour and related products. The move is effective immediately and marks a significant shift from the export restrictions introduced in 2022, which aimed to protect domestic food supplies and contain rising prices amid concerns over wheat availability.
With improved harvests and better stock availability, the government has decided to allow exporters to access international markets without restrictions. This decision is expected to bring relief to flour mills, food-processing companies, and exporters that have faced limitations on overseas shipments for several years.
The removal of export curbs on wheat flour, maida, semolina, whole wheat atta, and resultant atta could help Indian exporters explore stronger demand in traditional markets across South Asia, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. This move is also expected to strengthen India's presence in the global market for value-added agricultural products.
