India Lifts Wheat Export Ban Amid Global Supply Pressures

India's economic cooperation with Russia has seen significant growth, according to Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. The minister made this statement during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow as part of the India-Russia Inter-Governmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technological and Cultural Cooperation.

The meeting comes at a time when global wheat supplies are under strain due to escalating attacks between Russia and Ukraine. In response to these tensions, India has lifted its ban on wheat exports, which was put in place since 2022 after the start of the war.

The government has allowed wheat exports with immediate effect, including durum variety, flour, and other products. This decision builds on a previous move in February to allow limited shipments of the grain.
