India Lifts Wheat Export Ban Amid Global Supply Pressures

India has lifted its restrictions on exporting certain types of wheat, moving them from 'Prohibited' to 'Free' for immediate export. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) made this amendment in the export policy for Durum Wheat and wheat under ITC HS codes 10011900 and 10019910.

This decision comes after India prohibited wheat exports in May 2022 due to concerns over domestic availability and rising prices. The government had allowed limited quantities of wheat exports under specified conditions since then.

The DGFT has also allowed free exports of wheat flour and related products, including atta, maida, semolina, wholemeal atta, and resultant atta.
