India Lifts Wheat Export Ban Amid Global Supply Pressures

India has lifted its ban on wheat exports, which could help alleviate global supply pressures. The country's decision comes as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine continues to disrupt grain flows from top exporters. India is the world's second-largest wheat producer.

The government has permitted exports of wheat, including durum varieties, as well as flour and other products. This move marks a reversal of the ban imposed in 2022, when the Russia-Ukraine conflict began.

India's wheat harvest last year climbed to an all-time high of 120.6 million tonnes. However, the government had largely prohibited exports since then, citing food security concerns.
