India has lifted its ban on wheat exports, allowing overseas shipments to resume immediately. The decision was made by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, through Notification No. 35/2026-27.

The export policy for wheat under Schedule 2 of the ITC (HS) Export Policy has been amended, shifting wheat and durum wheat from the 'Prohibited' category to 'Free'. This change affects exports under ITC (HS) Code 10019910 for wheat and ITC (HS) Code 10011900 for durum wheat.

The move comes after a period of export prohibition that kept Indian wheat shipments out of the global market. The decision is seen as a significant shift in India's grain trade policy, potentially creating fresh opportunities for traders, exporters, and grain supply chains.
