India Lifts Wheat Export Restrictions

India has lifted restrictions on wheat exports, allowing the free export of several products, including atta, maida, and durum wheat, effective immediately. The move opens up new opportunities for exporters to resume overseas shipments that had earlier been prohibited.

The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) issued two notifications on Monday revising the export policy for specified products from 'Prohibited' to 'Free.' Wheat and durum wheat exports are now allowed under ITC (HS) codes 10011900 and 10019910, respectively. Previously, these categories were listed as prohibited for export.

Additionally, the government has lifted restrictions on wheat flour and several related products classified under ITC (HS) code 11010000. These products include atta, maida, semolina or rava/sirgi, wholemeal atta, and resultant atta. The export policy for these products has been revised from 'Prohibited' to 'Free,' allowing exporters to resume shipments without restrictions.
