India and Mauritius have strengthened their energy ties with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen cooperation in oil, gas, biofuels, sustainability, and emerging energy sectors.

The MoU was signed between Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and Mauritius' Minister of Commerce and Consumer Protection John Michael Tzoun Sao Yeung Sik Yuen on August 21. The agreement is part of a broader framework aimed at strengthening energy security and providing greater predictability amid a volatile global energy environment.

The two countries have also signed a five-year petroleum products supply agreement between Indian Oil Corporation and the State Trading Corporation of Mauritius. This will provide long-term supplies of petrol, diesel, marine gas oil, and Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) to Mauritius.
