India Petrol Prices Hold Steady at ₹114.88/Liter Amid Global Oil Market Fluctuations
India's petrol prices have been steady at ₹114.88 per liter in Pathanamthitta as of August 2, 2026, according to Hindustan Times.
The country imports about 80% of its oil needs, making domestic pump rates dependent on international prices, denominated by the Indian basket of crude oil.
Petrol and diesel prices in India are reviewed daily in line with the benchmark international rate of the preceding 15 days. This means that state-owned fuel retailers such as Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) review petrol and diesel prices daily.
The value of the rupee also has a bearing on domestic fuel prices, with a weak rupee increasing the landed cost of dollar-denominated crude oil.
