India Poised to Tap $1.5 Billion Wheat Export Opportunity
India has an opportunity to unlock over USD 1.5 billion in wheat export revenue as global buyers look to diversify their sourcing, according to a report by ASSOCHAM.
The country's record wheat harvest and surplus position have created room for expanded exports while meeting domestic food security needs.
India produced a record 120.7 million tonnes of wheat in the 2025-26 crop year, retaining its position as the world's second-largest wheat producer.
The government has shifted the export policy for specified wheat varieties, wheat flour and related products from 'Prohibited' to 'Free', covering wheat, durum wheat, atta, maida, and semolina/rava.
