India Reports Smooth Domestic LPG Supply Amid West Asian Crisis
The Indian government has assured that domestic LPG supply is smooth and no shortage has been reported. Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas Sujata Sharma said that the government's efforts have ensured that domestic consumers do not face any gas shortages, despite the evolving situation in West Asia.
According to Ms. Sharma, over the last two days, around 57 lakh LPG cylinders were delivered to households against bookings of around 87 lakh. The government has also increased supplies of 5-kg cylinders, particularly for migrant labourers, with over 1 lakh 11 thousand 5-kg cylinders sold in the past two days.
The Secretary further stated that commercial supply across the country has been restored to nearly 70 percent, with more than 15 thousand 4 hundred tonnes of commercial LPG sold over the past two days. Ms. Sharma also assured that there is no shortage of petrol or diesel anywhere in the country and urged the public to avoid panic buying.
