India Sees $1.5 Billion Wheat Export Opportunity Amid Global Shortages

India's record wheat harvest has created a $1.5 billion export opportunity for the country, according to a report by ASSOCHAM.

The shift in policy from 'Prohibited' to 'Free' for specified wheat varieties, wheat flour, and related products is expected to expand market access for Indian producers and processors.

India has strong demand prospects in Egypt, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Algeria, and the Philippines due to competitive pricing, geographic proximity, and comfortable supply position.

The country's geographical location offers shorter shipping distances and lower freight costs, making Indian wheat more competitive compared to supplies from other exporting nations.
