India's liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports surged 28% in June, reaching 2.659 million tonnes, according to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

This is the highest monthly import volume in the past 20 months, since October 2024, as peak summer demand drove up consumption.

The increase marks a significant jump from last year's imports in June, which totaled 2.08 million tonnes.

Since the beginning of the year, LNG imports have risen 7% to 12.844 million tonnes.
