India Signs Five-Year Fuel Supply Deal with Mauritius
India and Mauritius have signed a government-to-government framework alongside a five-year fuel supply deal. The pact was exchanged in the presence of Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri and Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam during the Indian minister's official visit to Mauritius on 20-21 August 2026.
Under the sales and purchase agreement signed between Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) and the State Trading Corporation (STC) of Mauritius, IOCL will supply the island nation's entire import requirement for Motor Spirit, High Speed Diesel, and Aviation Turbine Fuel. The Petroleum Ministry noted that the five-year agreement offers an assured long-term commitment, providing Mauritius with 'security of supplies and shielding it from price volatility.'
The overarching Government-to-Government (G2G) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) broadens bilateral cooperation across petroleum product supply, capacity building, and personnel training. The MoU also provides for cooperation in biofuels through exchange of knowledge, research and training.
