India Turns to US for LPG Amid Saudi Pipeline Attack
The Indian government has approved an incentive scheme to encourage city gas distributors to increase domestic PNG connections by September 1, 2026. This move aims to cut subsidy expenditure and shift from LPG to piped gas.
Meanwhile, India is turning more sharply to the United States for LPG and LNG supplies amid disruption in West Asia. The Saudi Ministry of Energy has shut down a major pipeline after it was attacked by drones.
The attack was attributed to several drones that originated in Iraq. The Iraqi government condemned the attack and ordered an investigation. The US administration has offered significant intelligence and targeting support to Saudi Arabia but does not plan on launching direct military attacks against the Iran-backed Houthis.
