Indian Equities End Flat Amid Crude Price Worries
Indian equities ended relatively flat on Friday as persistent concerns over high crude oil prices and rising US Treasury yields discouraged investors from taking aggressive positions.
The Sensex, a key Indian benchmark index, closed at 77,540.83, up just 3.11 points from the previous close. The Nifty also remained unchanged, gaining only 20.15 points to reach 24,252.
Market analysts pointed to geopolitical uncertainties, particularly the ongoing US-Iran standoff, as a key factor in keeping crude oil prices high and affecting India's major importing economy.
Elevated global bond yields have also added uncertainty to the market, with the recent US Treasury move to ease them failing to provide lasting comfort amid surging crude prices and inflation fears.
