Indian Equities Open Higher on Crude Oil Price Decline
The Indian equity markets opened higher on Monday due to a sharp decline in crude oil prices. The Sensex, India's benchmark index, started the session at 76,608.98, up 549.21 points or 0.72 per cent from its previous close.
The Nifty, another key gauge of Indian equity markets, gained 160.95 points or 0.68 per cent to reach 23,928.40. All sectoral indices were in positive territory during the opening session.
The decline in crude oil prices is seen as a key positive factor for market sentiment. According to market experts, Brent crude prices fell from $102 four days ago to around $93 on Monday morning. If this trend continues and crude prices drift lower, it could sustain a mild rally in the market.
Market experts also pointed out that the correction in global chip stocks and concerns surrounding the artificial intelligence (AI) trade could revive foreign portfolio investor (FPI) interest in Indian equities.
