Indian Equities See Mixed Midday Action Amid Transmission Order and OFS Developments

Indian equities were relatively subdued by midday on August 26, with the Nifty hovering near 24,280 and the Sensex around 77,690. Among movers and shakers at this hour, Adani Energy Solutions' share price rose 0.79% after securing a Rs 4,700 crore transmission project in Maharashtra through competitive bidding.

Hindustan Copper's stock price gained 3.59% as retail bidding opened for the government’s OFS following institutional buyers oversubscribing their portion by 3.41 times.

PSU bank stocks recorded broad gains, with Bank of Maharashtra up 6.4%, Indian Bank up 3%, and Union Bank of India up 2.8%. Meanwhile, Varun Beverages' share price declined 3% after announcing plans to enter the ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages business through a proposed wholly owned subsidiary.

Lower crude oil prices boosted oil-linked stocks, with BPCL gaining 2.5%, Adani Total Gas Ltd. and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. rising 2.2% each, and Mahanagar Gas Ltd. and Indian Oil adding 1.5% each.
