Indian Equities Slump Amid Crude Oil Concerns and Global Bond Yields
Indian equities lost momentum on September 15 as investors remained cautious about rising crude oil prices, geopolitical uncertainty, and elevated global bond yields. The Sensex slipped 46 points to 74,735 by 10:30 am, while the Nifty declined 32 points to 23,365.
The market breadth was weak, with 2,118 stocks declining against 1,438 advancing shares, while 211 remained unchanged. Oil prices continued to be a concern as Brent crude traded around $107 a barrel in Asian markets.
This is negative for India, which imports a significant amount of crude oil, increasing import costs and intensifying inflationary pressures. Rising energy prices have also led to expectations of tighter monetary policy in the US, with investors watching the Federal Reserve's upcoming decision.
