Indian Equity Benchmarks End Flat Due to Cautious Investor Sentiment
Indian equity benchmarks ended flat on Friday after rebounding the previous day due to cautious investor sentiment. The Sensex and Nifty indices closed at 77,540.83 and 24,252 respectively, with both showing little conviction to push the market higher.
The elevated crude oil prices due to geopolitical uncertainties and a sharp fall in US markets made investors hesitant to take aggressive directional positions. This was exacerbated by a rebound in US Treasury yields, which added another layer of uncertainty.
Among the Sensex firms, Power Grid, Bharat Electronics, Kotak Mahindra Bank, NTPC, Bajaj Finserv and Asian Paints were the biggest gainers. Trent, Maruti, InterGlobe Aviation and HCL Tech were among the laggards.
