Indian Equity Market Expected to Open Positive Amid Easing Geopolitical Tensions and Crude Oil Price Drop
Indian equity markets were expected to open on a cautious-to-positive note on Monday due to easing geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and a sharp decline in crude oil prices. Brent crude futures plummeted over 6% to USD 82.41 after US President Donald Trump announced talks with Iran would happen on Monday.
Rajesh Palviya, Head of Research at Axis Direct, noted that Asian markets opened on a softer note after Friday's semiconductor-driven rally, suggesting a cautious start for regional equities.
The decline in oil prices is seen as a constructive development for India, easing inflationary pressures, supporting the rupee, and improving the macro outlook. GIFT Nifty was indicating a mildly positive opening around 24,565 mark.
