The Indian equity market opened flat on Wednesday due to rising global bond yields and surging crude oil prices.

The Sensex started at 77,218.05, down 17.41 points or 0.02 per cent from the previous close, while the Nifty began trading at 24,152.05, a decline of 2.85 points or 0.01 per cent.

However, IT stocks bucked the trend and led gains among sectoral indices in early trade, with the Nifty IT rising by 0.82 per cent.

Analysts attributed the ongoing weakness to higher crude oil prices and global bond yields, which have been pushed up by uncertainty over the Middle East conflict and its impact on inflation.
