Indian Equity Market Slumps Amid Crude Oil Price Surge
The Indian equity market declined in early trading on Monday, September 7, due to the relentless rise of crude oil prices and ongoing conflicts in West Asia.
Brent crude futures rose by 52 cents, or 0.54%, to reach $96.80 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate crude increased by 66 cents, or 0.72%, to touch $92.14.
The Sensex 30 index fell 0.17% or 131.02 points to trade at 76,384.41, while the Nifty 50 index declined 0.20% or 48.90 points to reach 23,848.80.
In contrast, some stocks such as ETERNAL (+0.54%), BHARTIARTL (+0.51%), BAJFINANCE (+0.41%), ICICIBANK (+0.37%), and BEL (+0.30%) showed gains in the Sensex 30 basket.
